Sounding the depths of need

Barcelona's Town Hall says there are approximately 800 homeless people living on the city's streets day-to-day. Independent social service agencies put the number at 1,500. To find out exactly how many people live on the streets, who they are, what circumstances led them there and what they need, the city is collaborating with some of those same agencies to undertake the most extensive census of the homeless in the city's history.
