Keeping the wheels on the economy

The government under Prime Minister Jose Luís Rodríguez Zapatero delivered economic growth that averaged 3.7% a year and created three million new jobs, results that helped him win a second term in recent elections.
Growth like that is long gone. In the march of economic cycles, Spain has exited Easy Street (now offically known as the good old days) and is flirting with a technical recession (two consecutive quarters of negative growth), with the potential that it will become full blown.
